October 1st, Kayak Marble Canyon/Horseshoe Bend

Lees Ferry Boat Ramp - 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

LOCATION

Volunteer with us on this majestic, unique adventure!  We’ll start with a 45-minute boat ride (to go upstream) on the Colorado River from Lees Ferry through Marble Canyon to the Glen Canyon Dam and then head back downstream and get dropped off at Petroglyphs Beach, where you can take a short stroll to see the petroglyphs. We’ll get in the kayaks and head back to Lees Ferry, paddling through the world-famous Horseshoe Bend.

You will need to be at the Lees Ferry boat ramp by 7:00 AM to help unload the kayaks and get them ready to be loaded on the backhaul boats. Then we’ll head out on the 8:00 AM backhaul (boat ride upstream).  We should be back to Lees Ferry around 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM, depending on how many stops we make along the way.

CAUTION- There is no turning around and going back! You will be paddling for 5 - 6 hours at your own pace, and we do take breaks. You will be assisting athletes if needed. We are unable to assist anyone else with paddling. Keep in mind, we will be on the river all day without a way to go back to the boat ramp unless you paddle.

Lees Ferry is located in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.  You will need to pay a fee to enter or use your America the Beautiful pass.  If you have a permanent disability, you can get the NPS Access Pass, which you can use to enter the park. If you are a veteran or a Gold Star family, you can also get a lifetime pass.
